he Advanced Open Water Diver course focuses on building your diving confidence and broadening your abilities. You’ll complete two core dives—one deep dive and one navigation dive—along with three additional adventure dives that you select based on local conditions and your personal interests, making a total of five training dives. Each adventure dive you finish can also count toward earning the related PADI® specialty certification.

Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver

Enriched air—often called nitrox or EANx—has a lower percentage of nitrogen than standard breathing air. Because you absorb less nitrogen while diving, you can extend your bottom time and reduce how long you need to stay on the surface between dives. It’s easy to see why the Enriched Air Diver course is the most in-demand PADI® specialty.

Whether intentionally sunk to create an artificial reef or accidentally lost to the sea, wrecks offer captivating glimpses into history. From ships and airplanes to cars, these submerged structures are exciting to explore and often attract abundant marine life. Every wreck dive presents an opportunity to find something new, unravel a story, or notice details others may have overlooked. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty is a favorite among divers because it provides thrilling exploration while emphasizing safe and responsible wreck-diving techniques.

Night Diver

The idea of slipping beneath the water after dark feels both mysterious and captivating. Even if you’ve explored a dive site countless times during the day, a nighttime descent reveals an entirely different world illuminated by your dive light. As daylight fades, familiar marine life settles down and nighttime species begin to appear. If you’re curious about the underwater world after sunset, consider enrolling in the PADI Night Diver Specialty course.

Peak Performance Buoyancy

Skilled scuba divers are often recognized by their exceptional buoyancy control. You’ve likely noticed them underwater—they move smoothly and effortlessly, conserve air, and can rise, sink, or remain perfectly still with minimal effort. This allows them to observe marine life more closely without disrupting the environment. You can develop these abilities as well. The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course builds on the buoyancy techniques you learned as a new diver and helps you refine them even further.
Any PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or above who is at least 10 years old can enroll in the Peak Performance Buoyancy course.
