Dive Sites around Lily Beach Resort

We have more than 50 dive sites in our area, from easy to difficult levels, with or without current, thilas, giris, farus or outside reefs like channel dives, and wrecks.
We cover the entire south half of Ari Atoll. Close to Huvahendhoo, we have 16 dive sites with boat trips max 25 min. From May to December, whale sharks and manta rays can be seen almost anywhere on the east side of the atoll. Only a short trip north of Huvahendhoo, the Hithi, and Huravali Channels are then a good place to snorkel with mantas (and sometimes whale sharks) and Manta Garden (25 min) is then regularly scheduled. The rest of the year we also find mantas and whale sharks at Madivaru Manta Point next to Rangali (2h – full day trip during January – May).
Throughout almost the whole year, all the southern tip of Ari Atoll is famous for whale sharks (full day trips to White Sands Beyru, Whaleshark Point, Maamigili Corner, Diffushi Outside and Bodu Finolhu Thila). We also have famous shark points (whole year): Haba Thila (1h30), Jehed Thila and Tinfushi Thila (45 min), Visara Dune North (45 min), Vilamendhoo Thila (15 min). White tip reef sharks can be seen almost everywhere and during the whole year. And of course the fantastic Dhigurah Channel with 13 great dive sites like Kuda Rah Thila (marine protected area), 5 Rocks, Broken Rock, and many more. Glassfish, Black coral, long-nose hawk fishes, shrimps, gobies, large schools of banner fish, batfish, clownfish. Velagali Thila 10 min Small overhangs, abundant fish life, nudibranches, lobsters, mantis shrimps. Kuda Rah Thila 50 min Marine Protected Area. On The top 10 in the world! 2 big overhangs, 4 coral blocks covered with soft corals in orange and yellow, schools of blue striped snappers, a huge amount of marine life. Broken Rock 45 min Coral block with nice overhangs, rocks and canyons. Fantastic coral growth and big amount of fishes. Panettone East (5 Rocks) 45 min 5 beautiful coral blocks, huge amount of fish life, canyon and rocks and overhangs full of marine life Visara Dune North 45 min A huge reef 100 x 150m. Many overhangs full of soft corals, huge plate corals, abundant marine life, napoleons, jacks, dog tooth tunas, grey & white-tip reef sharks, turtles, rays, morays Vilamendoo Thila 15 min Mantas and whale sharks! The lagoon and house reef are nice and easy for snorkelling. There is a lot to see like baby black tip sharks, baby eagle rays, stingrays, all kind of young and adult reef fish.
The whole way around Huvahendhoo we have a wall, alternating from slope to vertical. On the south east side, big overhangs cover the wall from 10 m down to 20 m. The reef houses lobsters, many different moray eels and wide variety of reef fish. On the reef wall we often see cleaning shrimps and cleaner wrasses waiting for business. Bigger life such as mantas, whale sharks, eagle rays and stingrays can sometimes be seen passing by. Also perfect for a night dive, as we can view moray eels and stingrays at close range. The whole wall is pulsating with nocturnal life from feeding coral polyps and lobsters to curious octopuses. OCEAN-PRO Dive Team uses the calm, clear, shallow waters of the lagoon and the beautiful house reef for scuba lessons and open water dives. Orimas Faru 25 min Classic corner dive. Starting at the out reef, ending in the channel. Tunas, mackerels, snappers, sharks, napoleon, eagle rays. Thiki Thila 25 min Small but beautiful! Many new corals, small overhangs, shrimps, sea slugs, lobsters, dogtooth tunas, turtles, eagle rays. Huravali Thila North 20 min Giant morays, lobsters, scorpion fishes, sharks, napoleons, silver tunas, eagle rays, big coral blocks, table corals, many overhangs. Lily Beach Thila 12 min Fantastic reef with overhangs, big coral blocks, eagle rays, sharks, napoleons, schools of snappers, but deep. Ranveli Thila 25 min Mantas and whale sharks, turtles, sharks, manta mobulas, eagle rays, big overhangs, pretty coral blocks. Fanghamas Thila 15 min Overhangs, big coral blocks, schools of fusiliers, banner fishes, jacks, baby white tips. Kuda Maafushivaru Giri 25 min Overhangs, big coral blocks, schooling long-fin banner fishes, big tunas, turtles, sharks, eagle rays, dolphins. Tinfushi Thila 50 min White-tip reef sharks, napoleons, sweet lips, snappers, butterfly fishes, coral blocks, and overhangs. Amazing! Miyaru Thila 50 min Grey and white-tip reef sharks, eagle rays, napoleons, mackerels, fusiliers, big amount of fishes, beautiful coral blocks. Hudu Thila 40 min White-tip reef sharks, soft corals, overhangs, abundant fish life, barracudas, eagle rays, turtles. Kudhimaa Wreck 45 min One of the best wreck dives in the Maldives. This 52m long cargo ship lies max depth 31m. *MPA: Marine Protected Area, fishing and anchoring forbidden. |
